With 365,000 square feet, the new UC Law building at 198 McAllister Street features 12 floors of housing for more than 650 graduate students over a three-story academic and mixed-use space that includes classrooms, offices, an auditorium, trial and appellate courtrooms, and retail space. Through interior, exterior, and donor signage, Clearstory created a wayfinding program that elegantly accentuates the building’s materiality and architectural modernity, while effectively accommodating the range of uses, people, and needs within one space. The residential signage uses color and pattern to aid in the transition from work to home.
